Well in the salon actually.
So, in my last December post I told you about my new ventures into the sweet world of sugar, as well as the Christmas chocolate variety (which I really filled my boots with) I also learnt the art of sugaring body parts.
Having been a die-hard waxing fanatic I was more than curious to find out if the method of sugaring would be better than waxing, how could I improve on my beloved wax?!
Well, I’m pleased to say I was over the moon with the method and the results, and I think you will be too.
So, I’ve put together some FAQs for those not familiar with this hair removal technique….
Q: Does it hurt?
A: Sugaring will remove hair by the root, so you will feel the pinch of the root bulb separating from the nerve. However, the paste does not adhere to the skin, and generally hurts much less than other forms of hair removal, some clients says as little as half the discomfort of waxing. Keeping to a regular schedule really makes a difference as it means that the roots are smaller, and the density of your hair diminishes, resulting in a more pleasant, smoother service.
Q: Can sugaring help with prevention of ingrown hairs?
A: Sugaring is a skin conditioning treatment. It not only removes the hair in the natural direction of growth (reducing the amount of breakage), it also removes any dead skin cells that may be causing follicle blockages. As sugar seeps into the skin, it has the ability to clear out the follicle of dead skin cells as well.
Q: I am pregnant, can I sugar?
A: Yes, Because sugar impacts the skin less it is perfect for the skin as it goes through the stages of pregnancy. It hurts less, which means that even if you leave it until right before delivery, it will still be a gentle experience. Sugaring before delivery means that the area can be more accessible and easier to clean, without the itchy regrowth of shaving.
Why Sugaring Is Better than Waxing
A simple paste of sugar, lemon and water. Forget about resins, waxes and other chemicals, these natural ingredients are vegan, organic and ethically sourced.
The lukewarm sugar only attaches to the unwanted hair and dead skin cells. Hot wax can feel uncomfortable for some people; with sugaring you have just smooth, exfoliated skin, an overall more pleasant experience.
Unlike waxing, sugaring removes hair in the direction of hair growth so you’re looking at less breakage, irritation and overall pain. Additionally, sugar’s small molecule size is able to remove fine hair as short as 1/8 inch (7-10 days growth.)
Both hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic, sugar is perfect for the most sensitive skin. Most clients find less redness immediately after the service, with little to no irritation or ingrown hairs in the weeks following.
Sugar is naturally hydrating, and the paste is a natural gentle exfoliation, you get the added benefit of conditioning your skin during the treatment. As sugar seeps into the skin, it has the ability to clear out the follicle of dead skin cells, leaving skin soft and happy.
So why not give it a try? Sugaring can be used for brows, lip, face, chin, underarms, forearms, bikini, legs, toes, pretty much anywhere you have unwanted hair!
Maybe you’re allergic to some of the ingredients in wax, maybe your skin is just more sensitive than normal when it comes to heat and hair removal, or maybe you want to try something that’s a bit different that gives great results and lasts and lasts, whatever your reason get in touch to book your appointment or give me a call to discuss requirements, or click the link below…
